Least-squares channel equalization performance versus equalization delay
نویسنده
چکیده
Linear channel equalization has been a successful way to combat intersymbol interference (ISI) introduced by physical communication channels at high enough symbol rates. We consider the performance of least-squares equalizers in the single-input/multi-output (SIMO) channel context when the true channel is composed of an th-order significant part and tails of “small” leading and/or trailing terms. Using a perturbation analysis approach, we show that if the diversity of the significant part is sufficiently large with respect to the size of the tails, then the th-order least-squares equalizers, with 1, perform well for all the delays corresponding to the significant part. On the other hand, the performance of the equalizers for the delays corresponding to the tails may be poor.

Performance of Decision Feedback Equalizers in Urban and Indoor Mobile Channels
This paper presents idealized computer simulation results of an equalizer using two-ray and measurement-based channel Impulse response models. A decision feedback equalizer (DFE) with a recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm is used as the equalization scheme. The results show that adaptive equalization can significantly Improve the bit-error-rate (BER) of a mobile system if the channel does n...
متن کاملAn Efficient Channel Equalization on the Transmission of Turbo Coded Signals
This paper addresses the problem of channel equalization and tracking in turbo coded signals over frequency selective fading and delay spread channels. An innovative turbo equalization structure is presented jointly with the iterative decoding process, which is based on performing channel equalization via double decision feedback equalizer (DDFE) designed by using noncomplex least mean square a...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing based Wireless Communication System with implementation of Least Mean Square Equalization technique
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has recently been applied in wireless communication systems due to its high data rate transmission capability with high bandwidth efficiency and its robustness to multi-path delay. Fading is the one of the major aspect which is considered in the receiver. To cancel the effect of fading, channel estimation and equalization procedure must be done ...

In this paper, a comparative study between a blind algorithm, based on higher order cumulants, and adaptive algorithms, i.e. Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and Least Mean Squares (LMS) for MultiCarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems equalization is presented. Two practical frequency-selective fading channels, called Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN A, BRAN B) normalized for ...
متن کاملPerformance of Blind Turbo Equalizer in Indoor Channels
In this paper, we consider the transmission of turbo coded symbols in the indoor radio environment. The system is affected by the intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by the multipath time-delay spread of the transmission medium. To reduce the channel effect, we propose to use a blind turbo equalizer combining channel estimation, equalization and turbo decoding. The equalizer consists of an in...
